This book addresses the competencies district, school, and classroom leaders need to grow and improve performance. Executive leaders (Superintendents and Superintendent Cabinet members) must be skilled in strategic management. District, school, program, classroom and student improvement depends on those executive leaders modeling, training, and coaching board, program, school and classroom leaders to be strategic managers. Executive leaders must identify an improvement framework that ensures a focus on doing the RIGHT things. They ensure other leaders know how to do those things RIGHT. When that happens, improvement demonstrates success. Today there is an emphasis on student agency and independence for students to own their learning.
