Performance Measurement

Essential Question

How do you collect, analyze, and evaluate how “on track” you are in achieving your desired outcomes, standards, goals and/or objectives?

Reflection Questions before taking survey to look back on where you are

  • Why is performance measurement important to teaching and learning success?
  • What are you currently measuring? Are you measuring the RIGHT things?  How do you know? Is your data needed for tracking success easily organized and accessible?
  • Do you have a data-safe culture in which to feel comfortable to take calculated risks to use the data to get better?
  • Are you comfortable sharing your data with others? Are you comfortable having conversations with others about your data?
  • Does tracking what you are measuring let you know your impact?
  • your improvement aligned to expectations? How do you compare with others?  How do you compare with best performing?
  • Do you feel responsible and accountable for your results?

Reflection Questions after taking survey to look where you want to be

  • Define performance measurement. Why is performance measurement so important to the success of the school or district?
  • Describe the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned to the goals of your strategic plan. How well are those indicators know by students, families and staff?
  • Do district performance measures compare favorably with similar and high performing districts? How do you know?
  • Do district performance measures include readiness indicators? Kindergarten, grade level, middle school readiness, high school readiness, post-secondary readiness
  • Do performance measures include satisfaction results: Students, classrooms, teams, departments, programs, schools and district.
  • Do you know the difference between a leading and a lagging indicators/measure/target. Why are both important?
  • Do district and school KPIs measure equity: ensuring that all programs, policies, and practices affirm the strength that each and every child brings within their diverse backgrounds and life experiences, by the comprehensive supports, programs, opportunities and resources they need to succeed.
  • What are you proud about as you reflect on your personal use and/or your district/school use of performance measurement?
  • What needs attention as you reflect on you use and others use of performance management to guide your performance success?
