    Lyons Township High School District 204 administered the survey fall 2024 and compared its results with a 2022 survey.  Celebrate with them the tremendous growth and improvement in strategic management they realized.

Essential Question

How does strategic management of the first 7 Dimensions lead to sustainability and place the district or school a journey of continuous learning and improvement?

Reflection Questions before taking survey to look back on where you are

  • Why is sustainability important to district success?
  • Are you aware of leaders (Champions) for each of the district’s long-range goals? What do Champions do?  Are they visible and accessible?  Do they assume responsibility and accountability for goal actions and impacts?  Give some examples to support your answer.
  • Is the District Leadership a viable and effective structure to progress monitor and report strategic plan actions and impacts? Is their role and responsibilities clear and effective?
  • Is the School Leadership Team a viable and effective structure to progress monitor and report school improvement plan actions and impacts? Is their role and responsibilities clear and effective?
  • Are the grade level/department PLC teams viable and effective structure to progress monitor and report team actions and impacts? Are their roles and responsibilities clear and effective?
  • Would you describe your district and/or school culture one embracing continuous improvement? Give some examples to support your answer.
  • Is there a district office or district leader with chief responsibility to ensure effective strategic management? Which office?  Who?

  • Define sustainability. Why is sustainability so important to the success of the district?
  • Do you feel the district or school is on a journey of continuous improvement? Is that journey person dependent or system dependent? Explain your answer.
  • Do you feel there is a sense of urgency among staff members to live the district’s mission, vision, values? Why or why not?
  • Do you feel there is a sense of urgency among staff members to live the district’s long-range goals and annual strategies, indicators, measures, targets? Why or why not?
  • Is current change in the system real, relevant, and impactful? Why or why not? How do you know?
  • Would you agree with the statement, “Strategy is everyone’s job?” What is your evidence?
  • Do you feel the district and/or school is doing a great job in keeping families and the community informed about its performance? Name efforts that are being made.
  • Do you feel there is pride and satisfaction among families and the community about the performance of the district and/or school?
